Tailored Movement & Exercise
Appointments available Thursdays
Location: Yoga Moves Studio, 45 Evans St, Shenton Park, WA
If you are new to Yoyana and would like individual physiotherapy input or to attend the Physiotherapy Group Classes, you will need an Initial Consultation. This is a physiotherapy assessment to address your presenting conditions and build a therapeutic program of movement and exercise to meet your needs.
-
You may have a chronic issue; an underlying condition (e.g. arthritis, osteoporosis, hypermobility); a new injury or diagnosis; be post-op; or just wanting guidance to start back to a regular yoga, functional strength, or exercise routine after a long break and deconditioning. We will get you set on a short program in this session. We can then build this over a series of individual Movement Therapy sessions, or you may join one of the Physiotherapy Group Classes. Your physiotherapist will advise you in this consultation if further individual sessions are necessary before joining a class. This will usually apply if you are in the early stages post-injury or post-op, or you have you have multiple or complex conditions.

These sessions focus on building stability and mobility; balance in both body and mind. As this is a Physiotherapy Small Group Class, each person has been individually evaluated and may perform different variations of an exercise to ensure you each gain maximum benefit. Your physiotherapist will modify and adjust your practice according to how you present at each class. We are never exactly the same as how we felt last class, so it’s important to learn how to recognize and respond to your own changing needs.

Please have any yoga props handy that you have at home. If you don't have a bolster, using a rolled or long-folded blanket is a good alternative. Have an extra blanket and towel. If you have no yoga strap, see if you can find a long belt, e.g., dressing gown belt. Place a sturdy chair nearby.
